Tawfik Barakat is has a diverse background in Perioperative Medicine, receiving training in surgery, internal medicine, and geriatric medicine, and working as a general practitioner before completing residency in anesthesiology at Loyola Medical Center. While in academic medicine, his principle research interest was in cardiac anesthesia, publishing several articles on atrial fibrillation, catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, and amiodarone toxicity. In addition, he has special interest in a diverse array of topics related to Perioperative Medicine, including newborn acute periotonitis, mechanical ventilation, and carotid endarterctomy. A Board-Certified Anesthesiologists, Dr. Barakat currently practice general anesthesia in Lisle, Illinois.
