Mercedes Bailey is newly appointed Anesthesia Director of the world’s largest hospital ship, the USNS Comfort. Dr. Bailey graduated from Rush Medical College in 2010 with distinction as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society and a recipient of the Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement. She completed her anesthesia residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center-Bethesda, after which she worked as a staff anesthesiologist and division officer of obstetric anesthesia at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
Dr. Bailey is trained in combat casualty care and has served as an ATLS instructor. She is actively involved in process improvement, resident education, and several ongoing research projects and publications. She is excited to help prepare future consultants in the practice of anesthesia!
