Dr. Marissa Burns

Marissa L. Burns, is a faculty anesthesiologist with clinical interests in perioperative medicine, regional anesthesia, and patient-centered care. She earned her medical degree magna cum laude from St. George’s University, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her commitment to compassionate, humanistic medical practice. Dr. Burns completed her residency in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, following a preliminary year in Internal Medicine at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Dr. Burns graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and has conducted research in molecular genetics, presenting her work at the University of Florida Research Day and co-authoring abstracts presented at national scientific meetings. She has received multiple honors for academic and leadership excellence, including the COVID Crisis Leadership Award and service as Social Chair during her residency.

An active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Dr. Burns is dedicated to medical education, mentorship, and advancing clinical practice through a humanistic and evidence-based approach.
