Ann Iliff completed a 6-year accelerated B.A./M.D. medical program at the University of Missouri- Kansas City, after which she received her residency training and was Chief Resident at Yale University. While she enjoyed her time on the East Coast, her heart was always in the Midwest. Following graduation, Dr. Iliff completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at the University of Iowa, then practiced pediatric anesthesia at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. Currently, she is a member of the faculty at the University of Missouri Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Dr. Iliff is an accomplished speaker and published author. She has written about and/or given presentations on a broad range of topics, including airway management and rescue, neurocognitive outcomes, NPO guidelines, perioperative management of diabetes, aortic dissection, myotonic dystrophy, substance abuse, care of the patient taking suboxone undergoing urgent surgery, the use of gabapentin in pediatrics, and use of sevoflurane to treat status asthmaticus. She has been the recipient of several research grants and awards, including two UMKC International Scholarships.
Beyond academic her accomplishments, Dr. Iliff’s genuine care for the underpriviledged is evident in her numerous humanitarian activities. She has been on several medical missions to Guatemala and Bolivia, where she provided patient education on health and personal hygiene. Most recently, she participated in medical mission to Thailand, providing anesthesia for patients requiring reconstructive craniofacial surgery.
Throughout her career, Dr. Iliff has been staunch advocate of resident education. Anesthesiology Consultants is extremely proud and fortunate to have someone with Dr. Iliff’s knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm for teaching among our ranks.
